The governor of Neuquén, Rolando Figueroa, announced significant works for the Aviador Carlos Campos Airport in Chapelco during the 127th anniversary of San Martín de los Andes. In this context, he thanked the presence and collaboration of the National Secretary of Transportation, Franco Mogetta, and the head of ANAC, Julia Cordero, who provided a fire truck exclusively for the airport on loan.
In his statements, Figueroa emphasized the importance of these improvements for the progress and efficiency of the region, highlighting the significant growth that the airport has experienced in terms of flights and passengers. He also pointed out the need to expand and improve airport infrastructure to adapt to the new aeronautical policy of the country, which seeks to promote greater connectivity and decentralization.
The governor announced an investment of approximately 1.8 billion pesos for the expansion of the airport building, with the aim of modernizing and optimizing its facilities. In addition, pavement repair work will be carried out, and the aircraft parking position number 3 will be expanded with an estimated investment of 450 million pesos.
In relation to these works, Figueroa underscored the importance of providing a better experience for tourists and passengers using the airport, describing the current situation in which visitors are received as a "shame." In this sense, he highlighted the need to continue working together and in a coordinated manner to face the challenges affecting the region.
For her part, Julia Cordero from ANAC expressed her satisfaction for contributing to strengthening the operational safety system through the provision of resources such as the fire truck, while Franco Mogetta emphasized the importance of adapting airport infrastructure to the new aeronautical policies of the country.
